same problem in my class!

I am a student teacher and have noticed the same problem in my class. There is a child who just sits there and plays with pencils or draws pictures while everyone else is completing their work. The teacher in my classroom has a reward system. She gives away tickets to children who are "caught being good". Two weeks ago, this child complained about not being rewarded. The teacher and I had to explain to him that to be rewarded you must be caught being good by demonstrating good behavior and completing the work. I feel that this worked really well. He saw children around him being rewarded and began to do his work. HOpefully he will keep this up. good luck..let me know how it goes.
