I have only been subbing for 2 months but I do enjoy it. Yes, you never know what you are walking into, but for every difficult class there are two classes who make it all worth while. I am fortunate in that the district I work for, and the staff at all the schools, are extremely supportive and appreciative.
Subbing takes a lot of energy, you have to constantly think on your feet and be ready to re-adjust your approach to meet the challenges of each group students, but the rewards for me are many. I am learning more about classroom dynamics than I could ever learn at college (I am currently working on | |
my masters in education), and there is nothing that compares to being out shopping and have kids run up to say hi to me because they remember me from their class.
