Vacations

Our school has a policy of not giving work out in advance for illegal absences so I have parents that lie to me about vacations and tell me that they must go out of town for important family business so they can get the work their child will miss. What they don't realize is their children will come to school and talk about the vacations and they are exposed as liars. I've had a child write in their journal about a trip to florida, playing with cousins etc. on what the dad described to me as a trip to attend a family funeral.
