I'm in a confrontational mood tonight, so my advice probably isn't realistic but I have 3 thoughts.

    1) If you are going to be turning in your letter of resignation and they already know that, what would happen if you continued teaching "your way"? Did they put it in writing that you had to copy the other teacher??

    2) Are the parents in your class supportive of you now? I'm betting they won't be when they start seeing the same homework worksheets and the kids start complaining that they're doing work they've already done and everythings "easy". If you have parent support, you could encourage parents to approach the administration with their concerns about backtracking on the academics - and they would probably show support for you as a teacher too!

    3) How does the teacher you're "copying" feel about all of this? I'm thinking if it were me being copied exactly, I'd be a little ticked off - because it makes more work for her! She's going to have to be in constant communication with you about every little detail of all of her lessons!

I hope things go well for you the rest of the year. Probably the best thing to do - for your sanity - is to turn in the resignation letter and try to fly under the radar for the rest of the year!
