I give F's

I teach in a self-contained ED room. I have and will continue to give F's when needed to students. I fully go by their IEP's and still modify in some areas but if a student will not do his work and just sits there there
is nothing I can do. I also have another student that has been absent 37 times and late 19 times this year and when I I present him with his make up work he yells and cusses at me. His mom wants me to just give him a 70% and not harass him. I am sorry I don't work that way. I have make-up folders and all make up work is placed in the folders and it is the students place to make up the

work during their free time. I will help them as much as they need help but I will not just give a grade.
When he goes into one of his cussing-yelling fits I just tell him we offer the 4th grade every year and if he wished to make it to the 5th he will do his work or we will be happy to have him back in the 4th next year. That comment usually gets him to work.
