We have our kids submit "items" they are signed off by their teachers and some include, short stories, scrambled words, word finds that were created, favorite books they have read (book review) jokes, tongue twisters. It is totally kid centered and the kids love getting the issues and race to see if their entry made it in. We as adults add cool websites and or events coming up. Just an idea. Good luck
