Clip to ScrapBook
I do my best to let my students know that we are all different and that's perfectly OK. To a degree, I think I'm finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel in that education is getting away from the idea that every
person is a shining star simply from existing. Yes, every human deserves respect, but in an environment of production, we're all different. That's fine, but if you're simply lazy (I'll bet we can all think of students that fit this bill) that just doesn't cut it. Not in school and not in the "real" world.

Self-esteem and confidence come from success in what you do. Even the lowest

of students can be successful in this way if they do their best.

IMHO political correctness has gotten way out of hand. As a teacher, I think I'm doing my students a big disservice if they all think that they have the potential to become doctors or lawyers. That's unrealistic. Sometimes the successes to be celebrated are VERY small.
