Research!!!
By AW

Clip to ScrapBook
Do your research first! Have you read all the posting how none of us can get a job? Before enrolling in a credential program I would talk to science teachers. Observe them in the classroom. Look at colleges since you are
getting a PHD! I would do research and the job outlook. Learn from my mistake, before you get another student loan or dig yourself into a debt hole do your research. Also do soul searching. If you don't like teenagers (assuming you would be HS science with that background) and can't put up with their attitudeds teaching is a tough job. Generally teenagers these days don't put much
effort into their studies or show an interest in learning. It is very discouraging. Think about the high rate of burn out in teaching. Now is a great time to contact teachers because they are getting burned out they will be more honest with you! Talk to people and do research! If you are willing to move and want to work with inner city kids look into the program Teach For America. You can teach and earn your credential at the same time, if you can handle that kind of work load! They pay you a bonus after 2 or 3? years of service to pay off student loans, up to $10K. Good luck!
