Clip to ScrapBook
A great book to begin with is " How Big is a Foot" to discuss how we began using standard measurements. You could have them measure things in the room, first they estimate, then they measure it. This is a good buddy activity. I've also had them estimate how far they can toss a cotton ball and actually measure the distance they were able to throw it. That's pretty funny, they always think it will go farther than it does. You can have them cut a lengths of string to predict which string will go around a ball or can or something. (similar to measuring a pregnant woman's belly at baby showers Have fun with it.
