Student Generated Topic List
By Marcee

Clip to ScrapBook
At the beginning of the year I have each student keep a list of things they know about or just things they might like to write about.

Example: Soccer, How to cook eggrolls, Pokemon, school, singing, etc.

The list could be written on the first few pages in their writing notebook or in a special small notebook. As the year goes by, students can add to their list using words, sentences, drawn pictures, cut out pictures or anything else that inspires them.

When a student has trouble thinking of something to write about I ask them to look at their "Idea List."
