Some Books That Help
By Mary

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm working on my Master's degree in Reading, so I have some titles of books that could help you. Unfortunately I don't have the books with me at this very second since I'm at school, and the books are at home, but here are
a couple that I remember being very helpful for reading tutoring:

Words Their Way - has a ton of great word game ideas to increase sight word vocabulary

Systematic Sequential Phonics They Use (which is published by carson-dellosa) uses word walls and word building activities

Some other ideas that have worked for me:

playing word memory (similar to the game memory or concentration)

where you have pairs of words that are turned over and they turn pairs over looking for a match, I made sure they read the word out loud.

I would have them bring a book they enjoy reading and have them read to each other, sometimes reading with a friend can help.

If I come up with any more books or ideas, I'll let you know.
