black history month

This may sound strange, but I no longer do anything for black history month. One of my students asked once 'Why are black people important in February?' This had me thinking. I just incorporate meaningful cultural activities in my classroom all year long. If I am ever asked, I explain that I believe they are important all year long, not just in February.
