Not really happy as a teacher
By I understand

Clip to ScrapBook
The number one reason I am contemplating leaving teaching is the parents. I have one parent who goes over the heads of everyone in our school right to the person in charge of running all our schools. He never speaks to
the teachers or the principal, goes right to the top over really trivial things and takes all the other crazy parents with him. I have parents who make excuses for their children's laziness, lack of homework, behavior, etc. I have parents who do their children's work, hand it in in their own handwriting and think I am too stupid to realize this wasn't done by the child. I have parents who
don't show up for meetings, don't return phone calls, don't return paperwork, etc., lose things, throw away papers and expect me to run off additional copies, etc. Last February we met with a mother to tell her that her daughter needed to be tested for special ed placement. Mom swore that she would sign the permission slips.I actually wrote out what she should say because the first time the permission forms were filled out incorrectly and testing was refused by her district. She refused to use the words "special ed" in her request. The girl was finally tested in the fall because mom wouldn't complete the permission forms until then. Teaching would be great if it wasn't for the parents.
