I have been there. I had a student a couple of years ago that was the same way. I did the timer thing that was suggested earlier ,it did wonders. Give them choices, they feed on that. They feel if they choose, then they are
in control. You can set him/her up a chart. Every time the timer goes off, it the task was completed with no problems, put a star under Task1, and so on.

Let them have as many choices as possible without letting them control the whole day. Never get upset when they are upset. Sometimes, it can be an underlying problem such as a family situation that won't be fixed at school with a

timer or any amount of choices. Explain to him that no matter what happens, you are ready to do XYZ with him when he's ready, but make sure he doesn't take advantage of it.
