Writing Workshop
By KateIA

Clip to ScrapBook
I tried something new this year with my first graders. At the beginning I did a kind of guided writing time where I would pull small groups up with me at the table. I gave them prompts. I also did large group mini-lessons. The other kids did "centers" that were really easy. After a month or two I pulled only reluctant writers. Now I can "cruise" the room and conference during their writing time. I found that I got them off to a better start and had a better idea of what their writing level was. Just a thought. Good Luck!
