Here's the thing... By LG

When you are a student teacher, you are going into someone's classroom as a GUEST. Yes you are paying the college, but you are also building your professional reputation. You may have great ideas, but you are still in someone| else's classroom. It is INAPPROPRIATE to go in with the attitude that you are the boss and the cooperating teacher must listen to you. Experience makes good teachers...not A's in all of your classes. I am assuming that this girl feels that she has learned all that she needs to know from her classes and that her student teaching placement is just a formality. What she doesn't realize | | is that she will be ON HER OWN next year. She will not have Kris waiting at the door to greet the kids because she is late. She will not have Kris taking over the lessons for the Monday because she "was busy" over the weekend. At this point, she should be going way past just being a student. Yes, she is still learning, but she is also going to be a professional next year.As far as the supervisor telling her to straighten up or else...I am GLAD! I do not want someone like that slipping through the cracks and possibly teaching my child one day. I think that sometimes we let too many people in a classroom just to fill a space. WE NEED TEACHERS, not merely people that never take responsibility and always have excuses. Teaching is a profession that requires a lot of self-motivation. This ST will not always have Kris or her supervisor watching over her. Do you want someone like this girl teaching your kid? Kris, I commend you for standing up for what is right!
