Kindergartner Never In School Before
By Anthony R. Brown

Clip to ScrapBook
In order to get control of your class you may have to stop teaching objectives and teach classroom procedure, routine, discipline. It is unfortunate that he has never been to school but he has to learn the rules and how
to control his behavior in order to stay in your classroom. His parents should be aware of his behavior. Develop a social contract by starting him out with a behavior chart for the week (colors usually work with k-1 graders. Red - Inappropriate Behavior. Green - Appropriate Behavior, and Yellow - in jeopardy). This plan should be posted on your wall visible so that every child can see it.
I would even tape it to their desk. In order for him to participate in activities he needs to stay on green, if he gets on yellow its a warning and if he gets on red, you need to have some type of consequences that follow (Time out, silent lunch, isolation during recess.) I would explain this to him and his parents during a conference.
