fraction strips

Yes, yes, yes... Fraction Strips.

If you haven't seen these, I've included a link. Take a leap of faith and use them with your students. They are astonishingly helpful. Students can see for themselves what makes an equivalent fraction. Further, when you begin comparing fractions, again, they have a manipulative that is user friendly and facilitates a lot of learning.
