It sounds like I have the same student in my first grade room! He gets NO work done because he spends the whole time whining or talking out, or just not doing it. I have the same questions. I have done daily behavior reports with the parents, conferences, etc...it could be that he is just young and immature still, because we have seen a SLIGHT (very slight) improvement in the past month or so. However, it is still very draining on me as a teacher! He sits in his own area by me so that as often as I can, I go sit with him to focus on his work, but it is hard w/ no aide. I will be having a team meeting soon to discuss.
