First day advice
By new 2 subbing

Clip to ScrapBook
I just began to sub after the Christmas break and I was so nervous before my first day. I read in the previous threads at this site about making a seating chart and calling the students by name. That is probably the most
useful thing that I have learned to do far. At one school I went to, the teacher had put student's graded papers on their desks the night before so I was able to make my seating chart before the students even arrived. They couldn't figure out how I knew their names. Kept them a little off guard which was to my advantage.
I have really had a great time subbing so far, even though there
are some challenges. The time flies really fast too, never a dull moment. If you go in acting like you've done this all before and don't let on that you are nervous you'll do fine. Good luck!
