Tap and tally

Have you ever heard of tap and tally? It works with my students. If you are adding 3+4, you would have the students put three dots on the three and four dots on the four. Using their pencils, they would "tap" the dots, counting each time. I hope that I explained this accurately. I don't know if it will help, but I thought that I would give you the suggestion.
