Yes, but..
By Agatha

Clip to ScrapBook
Of course their tax dollars pay for our salaries, but they do not own us. I have a contract stating that I must be at school from 8:10 to 4:00. This is the time I am being paid for. Would I meet with a parent outside of this time? Probably. However, I don't like the thought of it being required or something. Would you meet with a parent at 11:30 PM because that's when they get off work? A parent could think "Hey, you'll meet me on my time, I pay your salary!" I'm sorry, but I have two little kids. I believe that family time is important. I think I'd be a pretty big hypocrite if I left my kids a lot to meet with parents who may or may not show up. By the way, I live about 30 minutes from my school so it's not like I'd be home in 5 minutes.
