I have a lot of problems with NCLB, but this is not one of them. I teach special education and I think this is one of the most fair things you can do for a child that is extremely low functioning. This alternative portfolio also FORCES the teachers to do the things they should be doing. I don't feel it is necessary for my students that have a learning disability and can have their needs met with accomodations, but for my students that are trying to learn how to write their names, I feel thankful that their needs are met and someone is accountable.
