Be yourself
By Maria Callas fan and teacher2

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi. I'm pretty new to "ProTeacher" and did not read your prior post. I can relate to you though. I, too, love planning by myself. I actually enjoy working alone. Unfortunately, this can and usually is perceived as arrogance.

I think in your situation, I would leave a note card in his mailbox stating something to the effect, "I appreciate that you would like to plan together but I believe I do my best work by myself and it wouldn't be fair to you. I hope we can still be friends. Thank you for understanding."

He has no right to treat you rudely and you're probably better off without him! I teach at the

middle school level and have found that many times, the adults act worse than the students. Don't take it personally - life is too short. If you prefer to plan alone, do what makes you comfortable.

Good luck. And don't lose sleep over his childish behavior. It's not worth it.
