Teachers get Summer pay here

In Michigan teachers (and probably bus drivers and other permanent employees) can request that their pay be spread out through the Summer. Each paycheck is smaller than it would otherwise be, but they get a steady paycheck throughout the year. Or, they can chose a bigger paycheck during the school year and get nothing in the Summer.

This is possible because they are permanent employees with a definite job everyday and a salary. Substitute teachers can't have this pay schedule because the school can't predict how many days they will work or put them on a schedule.
