technology By Kennedy

Hi Patrick, I happen to work in a district that seems to have a great deal of technology - software and hardware - and I feel like I'm often the guinea pig for the new stuff. Not a bad thing, mind you. Sometimes, though,| it is tough to plan cohesive instruction with all of the options that I have. WHat grades/ability levels do you teach? Word processing is one very simple way to involve technology. You can use "E-Journals" in place of writing notebooks for daily freewrites. Also, powerpoint is a simple and highly effective technology tool for my students. I usually teach my pull-out students PP | | in the 5th grade and their classmates are blown away by their skills. Try incorporating a digital camera - have students take pictures around the school that relate to a particular content area or topic - geography, multiplication, energy, etc. Then they can use their pictures in a presentation, etc. Small spell checkers wer the first piece of technology that I used years ago when I started teaching., My struggling students loved them and it paid off in their writing...They wrote more because they were motivated and their spelling-in-use improved. What kinds of soft/hardware do you have available, and what do you teach? Maybe I could offer some more specific ideas if I knew your situation better.
