cleaning up
By Anne

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a "magic cleanup" ocassionally. I mentally pick something I expect to be cleaned up or put away. It could be a piece of Lego on the floor, a certain chair to be tucked in, a scrap of paper on the floor, a marker cap on the floor....
Then I watch to see who does the "magic cleanup" job. AFTER everyone is sitting on the carpet, I tell them what the job was, who did it, and they get to pick a sticker. It's amazing what kids will do for a sticker! The beauty of it is, I can change the job (unknown to the kids) to ensure evry child gets rewarded. Now the kids always clean up well, even when it isn't a "magic cleanup" day.
