My words of wisdom...
By Kristen

Clip to ScrapBook
Angie - I am also a college student, part way through my second year and I can relate 100% to your post! I also dreamed of being a teacher when I was young, but changed it to many different things throughout the years.
Last year (my freshman year) I decided to change my major to pre-education and I have loved every moment of it. As for deciding which level you want to teach at, my suggestion is to find places to volunteer and decided which level you feel the most comfortable. Do a term in an elementary classroom, a term at a middle school and a term at a high school. At my college, there is a program
where you can recieve credit for these volunteer hours as well, so look into that on your campus! This year I began volunteering in a first grade classroom and I already feel as though I am making a difference in these children. I definitely don't consider it work...I look forward to the days where I get to go volunteer. However, teaching is definitely NOT something you do for the money! It really has to be something you are passionate about and love doing!
