Trade Games
By Heather McKinsey

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a trade game idea for you. Make on the computer 5-8 different sheets of cards (coupons) that say stuff like 1 diamond ring, 1 sports car, 1 business, new boat, $500, $1000, etc. So you make these sheets all different
and give each child 2 sheets of coupons and they cut them out. You explain how the bardering and trading will work and then ring a bell and say "Open for Trading the Market is open" and the kids walk around and trade their coupons for other kids coupons. YOu do this for about 5-10 minutes. They get really excited. Then you ring the bell and say "Market is closed for the day" YOu
do this game for about 5 days. Then depending the direction you want to take. You take taxes from them and take about 30 percent of what they have. They get very mad. Or you can put a point value to their items and see who did the best trading. My students loved it. They wanted to keep the coupons and I even found them still doing it a week later on the playground. HOpe this helps.
