Ideas for writing
By Ali

Clip to ScrapBook
You can generate ideas for your students by exposing them to many different kinds of literature. One example that I'm going to use this next week is a book called "When the Relatives Came" by Cynthia Rylant. Children usually
have many stories about their families, relatives, etc. Reading this book and then maybe sharing a story about your family can really get students thinking. Usually they all want to share their ideas and memories. You could have students share their ideas. By reading the story and having students share their ideas, it should help generate ideas for other students. Then you can give them
time to write, and afterwards maybe they can share a few more ideas.

I think I'm going to start making a list of books I can use during writing to help my students. Sometimes students are too restricted when they are given a topic or prompt.

Good luck
