I HATE OPEN COURT!

You took the words out of my mouth. This week I have decided to change some things with Open Court. I will continue to use the word knowledge boards, and spelling. Reading the story of course, but during workshop will be more like centers. I will only be spending 2 hours on whole group instruction and 40 minutes in workshop. We will complete spelling pages, practice using vocabulary, read decodables, etc. I can't take the whole group instruction either. The kids are bored and actually I am too.
They need a break. They are tired of me being in front of the class all day and just talking.

My school also uses Saxon Math, which is direct instruction too.
I am totally loosing any creativity I ever though I had.
