Clip to ScrapBook
I have been in this situation a couple of times for various reasons. I have found that getting right to work and teaching your routines and procedures are what work best. The students want to know you so I would bring in some photos or other objects that represent yourself and your hobbies. Have them ask you questions - 20 questions type thing. They have lost a lot of precious time already and they need to know that you care about them and that you will stick with them. Be clear and specific on your routines and procedures and get to work right away. Children need structure and these children will need a little extra when you first get them. I started with two messes also and ended up with two great classes. I wish you the best!
