Clip to ScrapBook
This has happened to me a few times and now I include the topic right from the start. I not only talk to the students about it, but I also address it on Open School Night when the parents are present.

You really need to
address your entire class on the issue and do not single out anyone in particular. Inform your students that plagiarism can cause you to be expelled from college, make them see how important it is to not copy someone elses' work. I have informed my students in the past of how easy it will be for me to find out if they have used plagiarism. This scares them for the most part and I haven't
had too many problems. I have also taught a few lessons on how to put research into your own words. The biggest concept to teach here is: if you don't know a word, don't use it. My students will now look up unfamiliar words and put it into their own words. This has helped me, hope you can use it as a suggestion.
