behavior By Becky Clelpper

I teach 7th and 8th grade resource students who are usually badly behaved students...but I hit on something that really works...I pay my students to behave in points ...I never have to redirect...I am a lot less tired...now| the key to this is to dangle a carrot ...my carrot is an auction in December and another one in May..the students use their points to buy items that have been donated by the community, teachers, and I have put my PTO in charge of a lot of getting the donations...and persuaded my PTO to give me $250 per semester to buy items not donated...we have given away stereo systems, yearbooks, bicycles, | | cd players...etc..this was not totally my idea, you can go to amazon.com and buy the paperback book called BIG BUCKS..the great thing about this system is that it is so flexible you can design it to fit your needs but it explains everything you need to know about the system...if your students need immediate rewards or if you are unable to get donations...then get your school or/and your PTO to give you some money and order trinkets from the ORiental Trading Company..things come in gross for very little money..middle school kids love junk...let me know if you need more information or if you need sample examples of my fines and my rewards and my point sheet...since I teach math I have made my students keep their points in a checkbook and add and subtract points each week...I also, put the top ten money earners on a chart each week..the kids love to see this..they can't wait until monday morning to see who is in the lead..before you know it the kids are disciplining themselves...it is quick and it is very effective..I have used it for 5 years...my principal now requires it for the entire special education department...Hope this helps you in some way....Good Luck
