So sorry this is happening. Whatever you do, be there for this girl. Let her know in whatever way you can that regardless of her home life, class life is good and she can count on you. Now ... you mentioned keeping the other kids from knowing but you also said your building was "swarming" with police ... so I doubt you can keep the kids from knowing something. She might also disclose info on her own. I think that your principal should be highly involved, as well as the guidance counselor. This is NOT something you can deal with by yourself.
