    That really is unfortunate. Even I never had it that bad. You are part of the team, and as such, you have every right to speak up during team meetings. There is value in sitting back and listening/observing when you're new, and even when you're not new. But to be told you shouldn't speak for 2 to 3 years is really invasion of boundaries not to mention adult bullying. I know it's very intimidating. But you do have the right to participate and therefore, you should.
