I have a friend who does it every year. I don't know all the nuts and bolts of it, but I do know that Starbuck's was very accommodating, donating the space as well as the coffee. It's held in the evening, and the parents are invited. The kids can read their own poetry, or poetry they've selected (although I think I would make it their own poetry).
