"Student teaching" By been there

Hi there, Just wanted to tell you that I absolutely hated my second student teaching experience. The cooperating teacher was young but lazy; her students did worksheets *all day long*! Not to mention that the situation| was against the law (IDEA) for special education students, and I'm a big supporter of inclusion. I'm older than a traditional new teacher, and I cried more than once over the experience. It's now been a year since that time, and I am HAPPY as a teacher! I thought I'd go insane during my student teaching time, and the workload was almost unbearable. Now I go to a place that I enjoy so much | | everyday, and I work with kids that I care so much about, and I'm proud to be a teacher. I promise you, if you can just hang in there, it really does get better. Don't let student teaching negatively affect your desire to teach; it doesn't really mirror real-life teaching at all, in my experience. And when you graduate, do a little homework on the districts that you're interested in, to try to find the best 'fit' possible. GOOD LUCK!
