Sunset resist
By Sue W.

Clip to ScrapBook
I am not sure if this is what you have in mind, but try it yourself and see if you get the result you want. I have done this successfully with second graders.
We used regular white construction paper. The kids did a landscape-type
drawing, It could fit the season or a story or activity. The kids were reminded not to color the sky.
Then with a few kids at a time, at a table covered with newspaper, we lightly moistened the front of the paper with a sponge and water. Then using pre moistened watercolors, the kids made a streak of red across the top of the paper with a fairly large brush. No detailed
painting! Then immeditately below, a streak of yellow and a streak of blue. Have each child IMMEDIATELY lift up the top of the paper. The colors run and mix. It turns out well, but try it yourself first to be sure that you are using enough and not too much water, and not waiting too long so the paint sinks into the paper before running and blending.
