Magnificent Mathematician
By Tylana

Clip to ScrapBook
One year I gave out an award called a Magnificent Mathematician award each time a student received an A on a math quiz or test. This gave them some recognition in the classroom, but encouraged them to work hard and to study. Maybe if you tried this, the child would not receive the awards if he is not getting the grades on his quizzes and tests. Don't get me wrong, we never want to put a kid down, but honestly sometimes they need to be knocked down a peg. This might be a way to do that while boosting your other students' self esteems.
