guided reading By Jill

Guided Reading is NOT choral reading!!!! Have you read the book by Pinnel and Fountas? You should be giving them a good enough bookwalk that they can be successful in that book.
Are you using leveled material? Are they in too hard of a book? If your whole class is reading the same book, it isn't guided reading.
And all kids need word work...at the correct level. Struggling readers need more opportunities to read and read and read...not just more phonics.
