Reaction to stress
By Chicago Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
The family issues, attendance problems, "eating issues", and bathroom problems may all be related to a high stress level. I have IBS, which is a stomach disorder highly corralated with stress/anxiety. I'm not saying he has IBS, but stress definitely could cause these kinds of problems in a child.

There could also be trust issues for this boy, especially if there are problems at home. Perhaps he is uncomfortable asking to use the bathroom, leaving the room alone, going to the bathroom alone, etc.

As posted previously, there could also be a history of abuse that might cause this problem.
