30 minutes teaching days?

I've supplied for 1/2 days and full days. I've never heard of going to a school for 15 or 30 minutes. Do you get paided by the hour or day rates? Once I got called in to help a teacher out preparing for the upcoming year. I stamped new reading material with the school stamp and prepared new math manipulatives. Sometimes you might get called in as a prep payback supply. (A position didn't get filled so the teachers did not have prep that day.) Every school board is different.
