I appreciate all of your responses. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Taking into account all of the feedback to date, I feel I am doing a good job.

Here are a few additional questions I have been wondering about: How do YOU feel about using a substitute, who happens to be a parent of one of your current students? How do your administrators feel?

Does it make a difference to you whether the substitute is a certified teacher? In my district 60 college credits plus a background check is needed to obtain a county substitute certificate. Some substitutes hold a teaching certificate, some don't.
