folders vs. journals

I use writing folders and journals. Writing folders help students understand the writing process. It is a structured format in which students edit and revise their work. I also think journaling is very important for students to enjoy writing without the worry of punctuation, grammar etc... I encourage students to write about whatever they wish.. I want them to enjoy writing as a way to express themselves and journaling allows them to do this.
