I am a Lifeskills teacher also. I have been teaching for 9 years and IN STILL GET / HAVE CRAPPY paras!!! first, know that youre not alone and that Its your first time around and it DOES suck! If you can: 1.Create a schedule that kkeps the paras busy and away from one another. 2. Do you have a description of her duties...Write one up. Really. What do you expect from her? *** This allows you a document of communication...Youd have to have your principal / sped director ok it. But try it! 2. Whe you talk to your supervisor, state the problem and offer your resolve (be proactive) Like, "Id like to sit with her, tell her I respect her previous experience but that I offer strengths and knowledge also. I am the one ultimately respobnsible for the class. " Talk to the higher up that hired you!! Always go in with a plan... Its soooooo hard to not get emotional (I do still) W/B if youd like to correspond and bounce ideas off one another ALL THE BEST!!! GO GET EM!!!
