We correct math homework in class the next day together. Each one of my students corrects their own. When they are done, they may ask me to explain a problem. I will do it on the board so they know how to do it. I explain each step and make sure they understand it. I realize that some students don't feel comfortable asking for help in front of the whole class, so I allow them to write the number of each problem they want help with at the top of their paper in pen so it's easy to see. When I'm finished presenting the next days lesson, I usually look through the assignments and help the ones who requested it. If I can't make it to them each day, I make sure that they know that they are free to see me at recess, before school, or after school for some help. That's how I deal with corrections. I feel that making them correct homework might make some students just correct and not try to improve and learn from their mistakes. They just correct it because they have to.
