I am a roamer too and have been for 30 years of teaching !! I used to be reluctant to let on to the kids, but now find that they really are quite observant and helpful. It is the way I am and I have accepted it. However, I am bothered by the time wasted, searching or reorganizing. Other teachers leave early daily, can leave neatly for vacation, and I am staying late clearing my tables or going in during vacation just to put things away and reorganize ! I do try to put things away before I leave each day so it doesn't get out of hand, but it means staying later then most. I try to have bins, baskets, hooks, etc. so things have a "home" to return to when I find them. It is not as bad as it seems, because I chose to use my time roaming to respond to kids needs from moment to moment as needed, often 1:1 which is a more valuable use of my time.
