I have to say that the parents are responsible for a great deal of babying. When we give a test we are not permitted to explain the directions. Reading the directions is considered part of taking the test. I still get letters and nasty comments because I won't read the directions and explain what the children are supposed to do. Every test I give covers work/problems that we have done many times in class and have also been assigned for homework. My kids still ignore the directions and do their own thing. I have been marking Monday's English test and so far I have 5 children who got entire sections of the test wrong because they just ignored the directions and did their own thing. I don't have any children with IEPs these are children with average to above average ability.
