Do you give out confrence sheets? I usually give these out two weeks before confrences. I staple them to a newsletter and have the parents have a week to fill it out and have their child return them back to school. On the sheet, I ask questions about the year and their child. Some questions you can ask are the following:

    1. What were you expectations for this school year of me? Of your child? Have these been met? Have we come close to your expectations? Are we from your expectations?

    2. What are 3-5 things your child enjoys most this school year? Least? How can we work to improve the least?

    3. What subject(s) do you think your child does best at? What subject(s) does your child struggle with? How can we work to help your child with the subjects they are struggling?

    4. What positive feedback about this year can you give to me about your child? About me?

    5. Are there any concerns you have that we haven't addressed yet?

    6. Is there anything else you would like to talk about at the confrence?

I like the sheets because the parents can plan ahead on what they want to talk about it. It's so easy to forget things and with this sheet, the parents can actually see what they want to talk about. I can also read it ahead of time so I can have a heads up as to what the confrence is going to be about. At the confrence, we discuss more in detail the things on the sheet.
